Smaller Engines and Higher Power Cars New Trend 2011

Turbochargers, transmissions and more fuel-injection technology will help maintain HP automakers that consumers desire. BMW has slimmed the 7 Series luxury sedan with a six cylinder turbo-charged as the entry-740iL, something they have not done in the past 18 years. The new six-cylinder 7 Series will be 315 hp with the help of two turbochargers, which is 44 percent more than the six-cylinder 735i model sold in 1992.

This is perhaps a valid strategy to respond to only Hybrid Mercedes Benz S-class six-cylinder. BMW also said at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, it will bring back four-cylinder engines for the smaller models, perhaps the 1 and 3 Series.

Other car manufacturers have responded with their more efficient vehicles. Responded with a new Hyundai Sonata four cylinder, which will be available for sale from February this year. The new Sonata will produce 198 horsepower engine and still get 35 mpg on the highway, says Hyundai.
