Mitsubishi UK is a new, more powerful version of the Lancer Evolution IX presented at the British International Motor Show. Development of the FQ-340, the new FQ-360 equipped with a 366 hp, 2.0-liter turbo engine from Mitsubishi. For comparison, the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S takes 0.7sec longer to reach 60 mph. FQ-360 was developed by engineers from Mitsubishi UK motor sport and performance division, Ralliart, which was also responsible for the limited edition FQ-400. Orders can be placed at any Mitsubishi Ralliart dealer with first deliveries expected in September. Mitsubishi’s engineers sought to improve the performance of the 1997cc 4-cylinder 4G63 twin scroll turbo engine is improved with the introduction of high pressure fuel pumps and high-flow catalytic converter, both of which were employed in the FQ-400. Engine Control Unit (ECU) has been reprogrammed to the car that delivers 366bhp at 6887rpm and maximum torque of 363 lbs ft at 3200rpm it humble. Torque is the key to the character of these cars. Maximum capacity of 363 lbs ft ft 8 pounds more than the FQ-400 produced from 2200rpm lower down the rev range. This is £ 18 m more than the FQ-340th FQ-360 could match the behavior, but that does not mean supercar-bashing performance has been compromised. This car will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4.1sec and top an estimated 160 mph.

Exterior Design: Subtle exterior enhancements differentiate the FQ-360 Lancer Evolution series of rest and improved aerodynamics at high speeds. One of the most significant change is the introduction of one of the front lip spoiler, carbon fiber, which is attached to the front and provides more downforce. At the rear carbon fiber ‘sharks tooth’ rear vortex generator helps to reduce aerodynamic lift. Keen ‘Evo eyes’ will also note the introduction of a set of custom alloy wheels. Developed by Speedline, they mimic the five-spoke design tarmac-spec rally car and Mitsubishi is not available as an aftermarket option. The new alloys are shod with Yokohama AO46 235/45ZR17 tires disturbance, which are shared with other Lancer Evolution series.

Interior Design: Interior FQ-360 builds on the FQ-340 with one notable addition, the space under the stereo – which is used for storing small items in the FQ-340 – is now occupied by the Ralliart Sports Meter Kit. Three dials display battery voltage, oil temperature and boost pressure, providing extra, useful information for driving enthusiasts. Fears that the FQ-360 was a stripped-out road racer can also be removed. Comprehensive specification includes climate control, all-round electric windows and electrically adjustable mirrors, Category 1 alarm and four airbags, proving that performance and comfort go hand in hand.

Chassis: FQ-360 termination is unchanged from the standard Evolution IX. Evolution IX Brembo brakes are also more than able to cope with the increase in performance. 17-inch ventilated discs with four-piston front and 16-inch ventilated discs with two pistons in the rear are supplemented by Sports ABS and Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD). EBD automatically regulates the front and rear braking force to vehicle load and driver requirements.
