1. First, install the ‘quick-disconnects’ (“QDs”) to the tow bar bracket, as described on the preceding page.
2. Next, attach the tow bar to the driver side and passenger side QDs — lower the tow bar over both QDs so that the vertical pins (Figure 2) extend upward through the top holes of the QD bases (Figure 2). At the same time, make certain that the lower vertical pins of each QD base slide through the lower holes on both QDs (Figure 2).
3. The two linch pins (Figure 2 and 4) must be inserted through the upper holes in the vertical pins in both QDs. Both linch pins must be locked. The rings (Figure 4) are spring-loaded — they must be snapped over the linch pin, as shown in Figure 4, with the curved side of the linch pin touching the ring (as shown in Figure 5), in order to keep the QD bases secure.  Read more...

This year’s Grand Vitara gets a touched-up front end and an updated cabin. The most significant improvements concern the engines. Two new engines are available, a 2.4L 4-cylinder and a 3.2L V6. Interior and cargo area Up front the seats are very comfortable but regrettably, there is no adjustable lumbar support. Many people will find the cushions a bit short. Drivers can obtain a very good driving position, and headroom and legroom are adequate for most. Access is more difficult to the back because of the narrow rear doors. The seat can accommodate two adults and each side of the split seatback reclines to several different angles. Legroom is good but headroom is very limited for tall people. The backrest and cushion are split 60/40. You can fold just the backrest or fold it and then flip up the entire seat to make more room for cargo. The side-hinged rear door opens on the wrong side, towards the right. With the seat in use cargo capacity is good and there is a handy little bin under the floor.

A. Installation preparation:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable before installation. Figure 1
2. Remove the bottom connector ecm. Figure 2
3. Use a precision tool or small screwdriver to release the retainer of the connector.

B. Harness installation:
1. Locate the three wire ecm harness in kit. Insert the green wire of ecm harness in pin 24 of eo1. Insert the white wire of ecm harness in pin 10 of eo1. Insert the yellow wire of ecm harness in pin 8 of eo1. Figure 4. Re-assemble connector, including retainer. Be sure to place connector back on ecm securely.  Read more...

The baseplate mounts to the metal bumper and to the lower cross frame of the vehicle. Six holes need to be drilled for installation. The attachment tabs will extend through the grill opening approximately four inches.
1. Notice the four push pins on the top portion of the frill. Remove the push pins from the grill and gently pull the grill out of its holding position.
2. Notice the seven push pins on the top of the bumper molding. Remove the push pins. Remove the push pins or Phillip head screws in front of the drivers and passengers side front tires. Use a 10mm wrench or socket and remove the bolt on the drivers and passengers side in front of the tires. There are also bolts that need to be removed on the bottom side of the bumper facia. Gently pull the bumper forward and off its holding position.
3. Remove the front inside bolts of the suspension bracket bolted to the lower cross frame.
4. Notice plastic wire loom on the passenger side on the inside of the frame is attached with a plastic clip, pull it out. On the opposite side is a similar hole, drill each hole out to 3/8″.
5. Hold the baseplate up so the braces align with existing holes on the cross frame. Use the existing bolts and loosely fasten the baseplate. Use Loctite with each bolt.
6. Hold up the baseplate so the front bolt holes align with the existing holes on the frame. Use the 3/8″ bolts into the existing holes. Notice the frame opening on the bumper on each side. Insert the nut plate and hand tighten the bolts into the nut plate. Once the two braces and the frame bolts are started, tighten and torque the bolts according to the specification chart in the General Instruction Sheet.
7. Drill out the extra holes through the frame with a 3/8″ drill bit and use the same hardware as in the previous holes. Tighten and torque bolts.
8. Replace the bumper molding.
9. Install the tow bar and safety cables according to the instructions included in their packages. Do not substitute other devices if the tow bar pin and clip are lost.  Read more...
