After the recent recall of BMW recall in 2009, 1.66 million in October 2010 involving Toyota vehicles due to loss of brake fluid, Nissan was the latest automaker to issue a recall.

Accordingly, the appeal was the third largest ever and was released because of problems with the ignition relay which could cause the engine block. The Nissan recall affects 2,140,000 Nissan cars made in Japan, the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Spain, China and Taiwan between August 2003 and July 2006. Most of these cars in Japan, with 835,000 units, and the United States and Canada, with a combined 762,000 units.
